Have you ever thought about why you pick up a red folder for math when you go back to school shopping? Or maybe, you pick up a blue one. There’s actually a reason behind why we think of a subject as a certain color, it’s mostly because of our memories or because of our feelings. For example, if you associate red with math, it could be something as simple as you usually get back your tests corrected in red pen. Or it could be something that has to do with how you feel about math, red is a color that is usually associated with anger, so maybe you think math is challenging or hard. But if you feel like math is blue, you may think that math is easy or relaxing, or maybe you don’t and the color blue was just in math a lot for you.
What about other subjects though? Some people say ELA is blue, others say that it is yellow. I interviewed Miranda Fish about ELA being blue and she said, “I don’t know why I think ELA is blue, it’s kind of just instinct. But I guess writing is relaxing sometimes, like when I’m taking notes its kind of relaxing, but timed writing isn’t.” Personally I think that ELA is pink, and history is yellow.
Okay but what about science? I thought the obvious answer was green because of biology, plants, life and potions! But Kaylin Lo disagrees she says ” I think science is purple, because when I think of science I think of chemistry, and when I think of chemistry I think of purple potions“. When I asked her why she thinks of purple potions she said ” I don’t know. Maybe its because I watched descendants as a kid or because I used to rainbow high on Roblox a lot.”
In conclusion, I think it safe to say that everybody’s ideas on what subject is what color varies by personality, memories and feelings towards the subject. But math is always red!
