How did President Trump win the election against Harris?
President Donald Trump has recently won the 2024 vote with 76,783,730 ballot votes and 312 electoral college votes. Harris had 226 electoral college votes, and 74,258,596 ballot votes, which was 44 electoral votes short of the 270 required to win the election.
Vice President Harris was at a major disadvantage when she ran in place of Joe Biden, who pulled out of the race last July. People didn’t trust her to lead the country and voted instead for Trump.
She also believed in abortion and women’s rights about their body, and because many religious extremists condemn such ideals, their respective believers did not vote for her.
Many voters Believed Harris was too cautious and wanted her to have ‘broken cleanly’ from Joe Biden and removed or replaced the leaders he had installed in his presidency, and many Michigan voters were angry about how the war in Gaza was being handled and voted against her in protest. It was a slim gap in ballot votes, but was still consequential.
Donald Trump’s tax plans
Trump plans to lower corporate income tax from 21% to 20%. Meaning companies keep more of the money they make, he may also change it to 15% for companies that make their products within the US. People may also be exempted or get an extension of time to pay taxes if they work overtime, and it works as a valid excuse.
He is also considering changing the child tax credits from 2,000$ to 5,000$, more than 150% than the current amount of money which will take trillions away from federal tax spending. Child tax credits are tax breaks for legal guardians on account of children.
Trump will also bring back SALT, which is tax deduction like deduction of property taxes if said property isn’t used for business purposes. There will also be new taxes on imported goods and a 60% tariff on everything from China.
He will also start taxing large private university endowments. Said endowments include being able to pay staff higher salaries, funding and researching new buildings, and enabling investments in faculty and facilities.
