The 2025 Met Gala was an eventful and interesting night, and not only the drama of Kylie Jenner’s shoe having to be taped to her foot or Doechii boxing herself in so paparazzi can’t see her somewhat mediocre outfit… But the outfits have circled a lot of attention. Specifically, the best and worst outfits. This is what was found.
First, this year’s theme was Superfine, tailoring black style. It was based on Monica L. Miller’s book ‘Slaves to Fashion’ released in 2008. The style was representing black dandyism and how slaves demanded respect with the use of fashion. So tailored suits, zoot suits, and colorful prints were in the criteria.
There was a vote taken here in Blaine to determine the best outfits and the worst. Here is what we found:
For the worst outfit for all you haters out there, it was a tough decision. But overall, we found out it was Sam Smith’s skirt-suit disaster… Not only was it not on theme but it was downright unattractive. Sam Smith styled a black suit with an attached skirt. While it’s more eventful than a regular suit, it was not the look they must have envisioned. A Blaine student, Kaylin recalls the outfit and said,
“Honestly Sam Smith has the worst [outfit]. Like choose if you want a skirt or a suit dude”. Us at the Paw Press and the rest of the school hate to agree.
Now, for the best outfit. There were so many beautiful outfits this year, but one person really outdid everyone, and this person is Zendaya. From her sleek style to classic taste, she really took the cake this year. Zendaya is known for her Met Gala outfits because they are always so creative and on theme. This year she fashioned a clean-cut white suit and matching hat that really contrasted to a lot of the colorful prints. Now lots of people could say the white was off theme, but it just made Zendaya stand out and it was an obvious hint to her engagement to Tom Holland. If that isn’t adorable, we don’t know what is.
So that was the Met! Anna Wintour really outdid herself with this theme, everyone who attended had very interesting outfits. While this vote counted for what the majority thought about these outfits, this is all subjective and there is no correct answer! So please take this lightly.
