Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be on a volleyball team? Here at Blaine, we have a close and small community, and middle school sports help to bring us together in so many ways. I’ve interviewed Selah and Camille to share their opinions and experiences about being out on the court. Both players have been playing volleyball for 3 years, but each have their own unique thoughts about the sport.
What do they like about their team? Selah and Camille both like the strong bond that they share with their teammates. Selah explains that she likes how well everyone “gels together” and all get along so they can work as a team and pick each other up. Camille agrees and adds to that, “we also help each other out” when in need of such. She continues to say, “I like how we cheer each other on and how we’re loud during games,” as it shows great teamwork and energy. Which for Selah is also important, she tells us that she likes volleyball because it’s an “energetic sport” where everyone is always cheering and staying positive. And Camille enjoys the teamwork involved in volleyball. “I like serving, setting, and how it’s a team game,” she says. She loves how every player plays an important part in the game’s success.
Both players have also had memorable experiences throughout their volleyball career, whether recent, or early. For Selah, meeting new people was definitely a highlight, “Getting to know all my teammates I didn’t already know like the current freshmen and current 7th graders was definitely a memorable moment.” She speaks. Camille’s most memorable moment was “Making varsity, then being elected team captain as a 7th grader for the 2025 varsity team.”
