This year we are not allowed to decorate the outside of our lockers. Kids decorated the lockers last year for birthdays and this year we can’t. The only decorations are the ones for sports or after school robotics. I will get some students’ opinions on this.

” I think we should be able to decorate lockers because it’s a fun way to celebrate birthdays and your friends.”

“I talked to Mr. Grey, and he said that they got junky over time and people vandalized them.”
“Did you like decorating lockers?”
” Yes! It was fun to do after school.”

“No, because they come down and don’t include some people.”

“Because Mr. Gray thinks that they look trashy.”

”I have never decorated lockers before.”

” Yes, because in elementary school we used to get treats on people’s birthdays, but in middle school we don’t get treats. So, locker decorations are the treats.”
“Why do you think we are not allowed to decorate the lockers?”
“Because they look bad after a while and they get messed with.”

These opinions were great. As you can see, some of the students really liked decorating lockers last year. They thought it was fun and even though the decorations fell sometimes and it was harder than expected, they think we should still be able to decorate the outside of lockers.
