Sixth grader, Caleb Cohen, has grown up playing soccer on the Seattle United team. He has made great accomplishments throughout his soccer career. Caleb started in the soccer industry at 3 years old and plays still to this day.
Caleb said, “Never give up, it’s hard to beat someone that doesn’t.” As a center back, Caleb made the top team, Copa, from being on Tango (second team). He started on Nova (fourth team) and moved up to the third team Samba. With hard work and determination, Caleb made it all the way to the top team from being on a lower team throughout his years.
With Caleb’s new coach, him and his teammates have won eight games in a row! He will continue to improve and be confident with the ball. As time went on, Caleb had good chemistry with each of his teammates.
To make it that far, Caleb has ways of helping his team make them victory, “I like to direct my teammates and be loud on the field. I don’t put my head down when I make a mistake.” Caleb explained.
Not just that, Caleb can also do awesome tricks while juggling a soccer ball and made a record of 413 juggles. However, there were some obstacles along the way; like when he got knocked out of the tournament, Surf Cup, placed in California, San Diego.
Caleb has lost some games but later he realized that losing is just a part of life and everyone makes mistakes. There will always be great moments throughout your soccer journey but also there can be some bad moments as well and yet it can be hard to recover without already having the experience of losing.
Caleb had many accomplishments throughout playing on United. He had the great opportunity to be a ball boy at the Seattle Sounders game. Also, he won the tournament, State Cup as a fourth grader. Caleb also took part in scoring the winning goal two times when playing the team crossfire and another time against the team eastside.
Caleb explained, “At first, I was a timid player, but I’ve really expanded my play style, and now I’m better and more confident than before.”
However, Caleb doesn’t just have accomplishment; he had goals, like how he wants to get on the Boys Varsity Blaine Soccer Team for his middle school and to make it really far with his soccer team.
Urban Meyer is a sports commenter for college football, including a former football coach, quoted, “Exceptional teams are built on a foundation of deep trust. In order to train and compete at an elite level, you must push each other very hard… But you can push only to the level of trust you have built with each other and with your coaches.”
Caleb has had a successful journey in the soccer industry and made it really far. He made many achievements happen along the way and will continue in the future. He will keep trying and working harder than ever each time he plays.
