Baking Ideas for This Spring and Summer

Here are some fun summer/spring cooking and baking ideas:

If you are looking for a great cookbook filled with fun recipes for all sorts of occasions, try Chloe Flavor or Chloe’s Kitchen. Both cookbooks are written by Chloe Coscarelli and all the recipes are vegan. If vegan turned you off, think again, it’s super hard to tell if these recipes are vegan because they are so good!

Ice cream is a super classic summer treat, and you can make it at home! You may think you need an ice cream maker or all sorts of weird ingredients but it’s really very easy. You can google how to make any flavor of ice cream (fruit ice cream is super easy especially if you use freeze dried fruit), just put no churn at the end of the search.

Did you know there are edible flowers? For example, marigolds and roses are some of the more common flowers you can eat. They can add some great color to salads or possibly an interesting snack!

There will be so many blackberries in Discovery Park this summer. Here are some ideas for things to do with them:

  •  Blackberry pie/ cake: a classic but delicious, plus it can use up a lot of blackberries.
  •   Blackberry turnovers: great with homemade ice cream.
  • Put them in smoothies or in a bowl with yogurt and other fruits.

Make frozen grapes! They are super simple but very refreshing on a summer day.
