Second Graders and Their Favorite Vacation Spots

Second+Graders+and+Their+Favorite+Vacation+Spots

Have you ever wondered where second graders want to go on vacation? Well, here is what I found!

I went to one of the two second grade classrooms and brainstormed some ideas for vacation spots. I got exactly 20 different countries, 4 states across the USA, 2 cities, and 1 National Park as my answer. Some places were more popular than others, with California taking the lead with 7 votes and New York City trailing right behind it with 5 votes. I also received some vacation spots that were not as popular with all the second graders in that class. Some of those places are Estonia, Ukraine (the student then explained how they want to go once the war ends), Portugal, Croatia, Australia (specifically Sydney, Australia), Ireland, Mexico, and the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador.

When I went to the other second grade classroom, I went to get more votes on the top 10 most popular vacations spots the first class wanted to go to.

Here is the Top Ten from the first class:

  1. California
  1. New York City
  1. Arizona
  1. Greece
  1. Italy
  1. Japan
  1. Korea
  1. London
  1. France
  1. Hawaii

The second 2nd grade class helped Hawaii climb from 10th to 1st place quickly, with about one-half of the class voting for Hawaii. California, sadly fell off the first spot. This class also helped France beat New York City in the race to the top, France ending up with 8 votes and New York City ending up with 7. On the other hand, some locations on the top ten that the second class did not vote for were Greece, Italy, Korea, and Arizona.

Here is the Top Ten from both classes:

  1. Hawaii
  1. California
  1. France
  1. Japan
  1. New York City
  1. London
  1. Arizona
  1. Greece
  1. Italy
  1. Korea

Now you know that most eight-year-olds really want to go to Hawaii!
